National (In)Security

Two weeks ago, a violent mob attacked two New York policemen, repeatedly beating and kicking them in the head. The thugs who were caught? Arrested and released, all the while flipping off the media with smug looks on their faces as they exited the jail.

In a separate incident, another violent mob stabbed a teenager on the streets in Times Square. And as of this writing, it’s been just three days since nursing student Laken Riley set out for a jog on the University of Georgia’s campus, her young life cut short when she was violently attacked and killed via blunt force trauma by a stranger.

In and of themselves, each of these cases are infuriating. Adding insult to injury is the fact that the criminals are all in the U.S. illegally.

It’s hard to find fault with families fleeing horrible situations and wanting to provide a better life for themselves and their children. As a parent myself, I feel compassion for them and honestly if I was desperate enough, I’d probably attempt coming unlawfully also. But in increasingly alarming numbers, so many crossing the Mexican border are not from Mexico. They’re pouring in from China, Venezuela, Syria, Afghanistan, Russia, you name it. We have no clue who these people are, what their background is or what their plans are once they’re here, yet we’re rolling out the red carpet for them, bussing thousands of ’em daily to so-called sanctuary cities.

Many of them are adult males traveling in groups. Hmmm. Is it possible we’re allowing our enemies to come in and establish sleeper cells, preparing for a major attack on U.S. soil?? Nah, surely that’s just crazy talk. Welcome to America!

Every year on September 11th, we say “Never Forget.” No one thought such a horrific attack could happen here, right under our noses, and yet it did. We have more enemies than we did then, enemies who would love nothing more than to see us completely wiped out.

Not to mention the constant flow of fentanyl that’s coming in and killing our children.

Not to mention the toll that such huge numbers of people place on homeless shelters and social services that would otherwise go to U.S. citizens.

I have nothing against immigration in and of itself. On the contrary, we were founded from immigrants. But there’s a right way to come here, and this isn’t it. This is insanity. There are countries far smaller than ours who do a much better job at securing their borders and protecting their citizens. Meanwhile, our enemies laugh at our utter inability to secure our own country, and see us as being extremely vulnerable.

They’re not wrong.

Border security is national security. Why it’s even a political issue is beyond me. Ultimately, the main job of the President is to protect U.S. citizens from all threats foreign and domestic. History shows that great empires fall when they become overly confident in their own power and lower their guard. As the saying goes, we must either learn from history….or be doomed to repeat it.
